Sweet and Simple: Side to Side Knitting
Instructor: Denice Sharpe

Gather in and learn a new way of knitting a sweater with a minumum of finishing! It's simple to master and you'll be able to use any yarn you like. We will write/design a unique pattern for a custom fit and your choice of yarn. A worsted or heavier weight yarn is recommended for class so the project will progress quickly and you can master all the concepts. Once you've finished the "baby sweater" sample, you will have all the know-how to move on to the grown up version on your own. Students should be proficient in basic knitting skills. Yarn and appropriate size needles may be purchased at Halcyon Yarn at a 10% class discount.
Class requirements: Homework: Before the day of class, pick out the yarn you would like to use -- approx 400-550 yds of worsted or 350-500 yds of bulky (may be purchased at Halcyon at 10% discount), and work a sample swatch to determine the gauge for your yarn and needles. Bring the swatch to class to use in figuring your pattern. Students should also bring lunch; yarn of choice; 12in straight or 24in circular needles in size used for gauge swatch; tapestry needle; measuring tool; pencil and paper; calculator (optional).
